Great fun July 17, 2010 myPenName I've had this tool for about 6 months. It is great fun to measure about anything I can think of. It is one of my favorite toys. Some friends are going to get one for themselves.
Think cooling temperature for hummingbird water/sugar mixture so that I don't handle it too soon.
Its resting place has migrated to the top of the refrigerator. When I get home from a grocery trip I often put meat, milk, fish and other non-vegetable perishables in the freezer to reduce their storage temperature from that of the trip home (and maximize storage times) before moving them to the lower refrigerator chamber. I check the temperature until it approaches 32F.
Works good for making sure beer is very cold.
I just used it to test the operating temp of a new USB wireless adapter (for my desktop) - 95F I can live with.
Dont buy this one June 20, 2010 Jozef Nemeth I used it for about a year and in hot weather it started acting up. Finally quit working very disappointed. Not made for everyday use.
It's handy to have! June 5, 2010 Victor J. Bono (Boston,MA) I've been using this to gauge the temp of my pizza stone on the grill.
It works good!
Now, since I've bought this, I've found other uses, like seeing how hot my baseboard heating elements are, or how much heat the sun generates on parts of my home so I could have an idea how to better insulate.
I'm sure there will be more uses as time goes on.
The temp seems accurate and I like having the unit handy.
Laser Thermometer May 19, 2010 B. Bugal (Antioch, CA) The reason I purchased this thermometer was for determining how hot a pan was before using.
I pan fry steaks as a preferred method and it is important to make sure the pan is extremely hot before putting the meat in the pan.
This device is just right for this task. It allows me to check the surface in several spots - to make sure the pan is evenly hot.
I find it accomplishes the task for which I purchased it. I have not yet tried it for temps of foods or oil - that will be a whole different thing.
Good choice May 4, 2010 C. Manske (Clintonville, WI, USA) I chose this by considering other reviews for a similar item.
The recipient of the gift of this thermometer has been very satisfied with its performance.
For me, the purchaser, I was delighted to find many of the same features on more expensive models, yet content that this item would do just fine in a home kitchen setting.
