Product Description Synchromax is recommended for manual transmissions that specify an automatic transmission fluid or motor oil. It is also ideal for 4x4 transfer cases and / or 2-cycle and 4-cycle motorcycle gear boxes.
Synchromax is formulated with Royal Purples synthetic, proprietary Synerlec additive technology, which offers improved shift quality over a wide temperature range and reduced gear noise.
Synchromax is fully compatible with all types of friction materials and offers excellent corrosion and oxidation protection without affecting the soft metals commonly found in manual transmission synchronizers.

Shifts like butter... May 2, 2010 Stephen Dempsey (Houston, TX) At the advice of BMW enthusiasts and Royal Purple, I am running this in my 2000 E39 528i 5 speed manual. After 500 miles the shifts continue to become increasingly smoother. This was the perfect compliment to the short throw shifter. Highly recommended!
Great item, great price April 27, 2010 John N. Fun (Aruba) I have been looking for this great product on different websites and Amazon had the best price.

I've been experimenting with various transmission fluids in a 2001 BMW 325xi with approximately 130k miles on it. This fluid works better than Redline D4 ATF, but not as good as the original BMW lifetime fluid. With the original BMW fluid, I did not notice any rough shifts from 1st to 2nd. With the Redline D4 ATF rough shifting was more pronounced. With The Royal Purple Synchromax, it is just barely there. It should be noted that the rough shifts are more a product of my transmission being 10 years old, and not these fluids being inadequate. The reason the original BMW fluid worked best (I would guess) is because it had a higher coefficient of friction (from being old) which allowed the synchros to match gear speed quicker. These new fluids that I've tried are all just too slippery. I should say though, that it is only 1st to 2nd that is a little rough, all other shifts are flawless so I would say that this is an excellent fluid, especially for newer vehicles. If you've got a little rough shifting from old age, I'd look for something with a better coefficient of friction. The next thing I'm trying is Redline's 75W140NS which does NOT have friction modifiers in it (which makes it less slippery).
Top performance April 18, 2010 Joshua G. Nichols (Uintah County, UT) Although I haven't used it for that long, the reviews as well as recommendations from friends have always been %100 positive. No complaints
smooth as silk in my M3 Sedan March 3, 2010 A. Hazboon Just swapped out the gunk that BMW calls transmission fluid for the Royal Purple in my 1997 M3 Manual. I thought I needed to rebuild the transmission, but instead all I needed was to replace the fluid. Definitely recommended!
