There is no need for any specific knowledge of batteries or their charging methods; the Multi US 3300 will take care of it. The Multi US 3300 utilizes a four-step automatic charging cycle. First, patented desulphation functionality allows for possible reconditioning of batteries that have lost significant power due nonuse. This is followed by Bulk Charging, when 80% of charging takes place; then Absorption Charging which completes charging up to virtually 100%; and finally Pulse/Maintenance Charging, in which the battery receives a pulse of electricity when the voltage drops below 95%, keeping the battery in perfect condition indefinitely when it is not used. If the battery is loaded and the battery’s terminal voltage drops to 12.9V the charger automatically switches back to the beginning of the four-step cycle. Also, the Multi US 3300 can be connected for months and it is specifically developed for seasonal vehicles. The Multi US 3300 is specifically developed for different needs, vehicles and batteries. With this in mind user have a choice between three different modes. The low-current mode (the motorcycle icon) is perfect for smaller 12V batteries such as motorbikes, lawnmowers, jet skies, snowmobiles, etc. The higher current mode (the car icon) is for automotive or marine applications with larger batteries. Finally, an additional winter mode (the snowflake) is specifically aimed at charging and maintenance in cold weather. It is also perfectly suited for Optima Red Top batteries. A very light and compact charger, but still extremely robust and water and dust resistant (IP65 classification), the Multi US 3300 is designed to charge and maintain batteries, no matter the weather, temperature or situation. No buttons, small, no fuss, works like a dream. Design is as nice as if Apple lent out its product design people. I have the charger adaptor bolted onto my rarely used car Optima battery so the car is "plug and play". Great product.

After going through a battery due to lack of use for the winter, I bought this trickle charger for my Porsche. It works perfectly and it's priced right.

I read (and re-read) the instructions that came with this unit and in one section it has instructions to 'not' attach the clips directly to one post of the battery, but instead to have a length of wire attached to one of the posts if the battery is out of the vehicle. Later instructions don't say this. It's simple enough to attach one of the alligator clips to a ground on a battery installed in the vehicle, but I find it ridiculous to suggest that I need to attach a "jumper cable" to a battery outside of a vehicle, just to charge it.
The leads (alligator and other) are just too short. Another 6 inches would have made them more usable.
I do like that it fully charges the battery ad then goes in to a maintenance mode. I can leave it attached for a couple days without worrying about it.

Works fine for recharging the car batteries and SLA batteries I've used it on, and seems so simple a child could understand its proper use. This charger won't boost-start a car, and won't work on 230 volt AC, but for foolproof household charging and maintaining of lead acid batteries I have not seen a better design.

My car's engine failed to crank approx. 6 weeks ago. In fact, none of the car's electrical components worked at all. A check of the battery showed it had drained down to 8V. I connected the CTEK Multi US 3300, set it to the 14.4V/3.3A mode, and let it recharge the battery until the "Charging Completed" light came on 18 hours later. The battery now showed a full charge of 12.9V. The car's engine fired right up, and the battery has been working fine since then. Well done CTEK!!!
